Appointments

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the advice of Health Protection Scotland and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, the surgery has put in place a telephone triage system to review all initial requests for GP appointments. Patients can still request routine and urgent appointments with a GP, however they will be initially screened via the telephone.

We have also temporarily suspended online appointment bookings to remain compliant with Health Protection Scotland and NHS advice.

To arrange an appointment, please contact us on 0141 739 6666 and choose Option 3.

When contacting the Practice to arrange an appointment, you will be greeted by one of our Medical Receptionists. It is appointment policy that our Medical Receptionists will ask you why you are needing your appointment with a clinician. Patients will be asked this for several reasons:

  • To allow patients access to the most suitable medical care with the most appropriate health care professional
  • To prioritise appointments, phone calls and home visits
  • To ensure patients are seen within an appropriate time frame

If you feel that your issue is private, and you do not wish to say what this is, this will be respected.

All Medical Receptionist staff members are bound by confidentiality regulations and any information given by patients or service users will be treated as strictly confidential.

In line with Health Board advice, we have currently suspended online booking of appointments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Requests for Urgent Appointments

If you feel you need to see a GP sooner than the next available appointment, the receptionists will ask one of the GPs to ‘phone you to assess your symptoms further. This is known as ‘triage’. Please ensure that the receptionists have your correct phone number, and keep your phone charged and switched on, to avoid missing the GP’s call. If the GP agrees that you need to be seen urgently, you will be asked to attend at a specific time.

Text Message Appointment Reminders

We now offer free appointment reminders via text message. A text message will be sent to your mobile phone with your appointment details. If you no longer need your appointment, you can reply to this message, using the word ‘CANCEL’. This automatically cancels your appointment and helps reduce waiting times for other patients. Please check with the receptionists to make sure we have your correct mobile number.

Missed Appointments

If you are unable to attend your appointment, we ask that you cancel it at the earliest opportunity. Failing to attend appointments wastes time and resources, and prolongs waiting times for other patients. Patients who miss several appointments will be notified in writing, and encouraged to make every effort to attend future appointments. Regrettably, if patients continue to miss appointments despite this, they may be asked to register with another GP.

Training

As an accredited training practice we offer appointments with fully qualified doctors who are specialising in general practice. Doctors may be at various stages of their training and are, at all times, fully supported and supervised.
